Howard County's first baby of the year arrives
January 7, 2010 (Big Spring, TX) - Some folks might say he was taking his time — others may call him, “stylishly late!” Whichever you choose, at 6:01 p.m., Monday, Jan. 4, this decade’s first new Howard County citizen, a baby boy, was born at Scenic Mountain Medical Center.
Weighing in at a healthy 8 pounds and 11 ounces, and measuring 20.5 inches long, Baby New Year will be welcomed home by four big sisters. Family Medical Center Ob/Gyn, Dr. Erich Byerly, delivered this much-anticipated holiday gift, with pediatrician Dr. Steve Ahmed ensuring he has a healthy start.
While all new babies are greeted with joy, the first baby of 2010 was welcomed with Howard County’s generosity. Thanks to the efforts of SMMC’s labor and delivery team and to more than 20 community contributors, a basket of gifts was presented to the family.
