Meet Our General Surgeons

Family Medical Center Surgical Associates, Drs. Alan Abel, Ladd Hoffman and John Lang, members of the SMMC Medical Staff, are experienced in same-day laparoscopic and outpatient procedures that use advanced technology to get you back home sooner.

		Alan E. Abel, M.D. Board-certified General Surgeon Alan Abel, M.D. attended medical school at the University of Texas and completed his residency at the University of Nevada at Reno in 1985.  With more than 20 years surgical experience, Dr. Abel has practiced in Big Spring since 2002. 		Ladd C. Hoffman, M.D. Board-eligible general Surgeon Ladd Hoffman, M.D. joined the SMMC medical staff in July 2008 after completing his surgical residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio.  Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Hoffman taught math to high school students in Carthage.
		John Lang, M.D. Dr. Lang attended medical school at Penn State and, after his general surgery internship and residency in Harrisburg, PA, completed a Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship in Michigan. He has practiced in both PA and TX over the last 6 years and joins Drs. Abel and Hoffman on our FMC Surgical Services team.
